Compare and contrast
Gabii Wescott
In this paper I would like to compare and contrast the Buddhist religion the Christianity. Buddhism is a religion based on the philosophies of life and the teachings of lord Buddha, and the concept of Buddhism was evolved much earlier then Christianity, and the birth of Jesus Christ was the beginning of Christianity. Buddhists and Christianity are both majorly fallowed by races and groups that are different then those of their founders, and are now both highly fallowed religions. Both religions have had many changes to their regions theory’s and principles. They are both considered being the two most distinctive religions of the world, and covering a large amount of the world’s population and have many similarities and differences.
There are many similarities between Christians and Buddhist. The first would be there golden rules, Lord Buddha based His ethics on the golden rule which was the welfare of all human beings, wail Jesus Christ also preached His ethics as the golden rule, which was for the welfare of His people. Another similarity is Buddha, rejected extreme asceticism and gave an emphasis on self-liberation through knowledge, Jesus Christ rejected extreme asceticism as well. Also The worship in Buddhism includes ringing of bells, bowing, use of incense and rosary, erection towers or stupas, prayers and meditation, Similarly, the Christians also follow almost same form of worship Confession, images, ringing of bells, use of rosary and incense and towers. Finally The Buddha gives an emphasis on love for the entire mankind and every other beings as well, no matter whether the being is a friend or an enemy, Jesus Christ is also based on the principle of “Love thy neighbor like unto yourself” which means that love should be showered upon not only your friends, but the entire beings.
There are also many differences between Christians and Buddhist. The first being there gods, Buddha does not entail any Godly figures, although the later Buddhist introduced some godly figures, in Christianity There is only one God, Jesus, who is loving and approachable. Also According to the Buddhist concept, “one has to work for one's own salvation, and therefore, cannot blame or depend on others for salvation,” in Christianity Salvation is not based on one's work, but instead, is a free gift to all those who would accept Jesus Christ as their savior. Another difference is according to the Buddha there is an eternal life, which depends on the karma of one's present life, in Christianity There is an eternal life in Heaven, which has nothing to do with karma and comes as a free gift of salvation. Finally as Buddhism neither deals with the beginning nor a definite end of the world, According to the Christian doctrine, the God has created the world from nothing, and rules it according to His own definite plan. As you now know there are many similarities and differences between Christianity and Buddhism.

Reflection/Evaluation of Work
There were many different things that factored into my G.S.A. project. The first thing I did in my project was to research each topic and everything needed to get the standards. Then, I put all the research into a paper with where I found them and highlighted. Next, I wrote about the meetings that where held and what types of communication was being made, like tones people used when they where angry, and body language when upset. After that, I went through the long process of finding the accuracy and bias and Interpersonal communications. Finally I attended all the meetings and gave my opinions into what we where talking about.
I had many strengths and weaknesses when doing this project. The first strength I had was I I had taken classes that touched on the topics brought up in the past. Another strength I had was that I have a lot of experience and knowledge on the topics. One weakness I had was that I left a lot of the actual work until the end and had to rush, so it made me incredibly overwhelmed. Another weakness I had was it was extremely hard to watch people in GSA and get a clear view on the movements they where making to get standards I needed.
I feel like I earned the graduation standards in this project in quite a few ways. The first reason is because I covered each of the points I needed in order to get the standard. Another reason is because I went to all the meetings and I feel I participated a bunch. The last reason is because I feel the deliverable I produced are good quality.
I feel like I earned an A because I overachieved what was asked of me, and because I helped out more then was asked of me in GSA.
I learned quite a bit from this project, but most of what I learned won’t relate to my next project. The only thing I feel will, is that I need to manage my time better so I’m not rushing at the end, and make sure I get some of the deliverbles produced earlier on.

I feel the characters that are most important to Santiago where the king and the crystal merchant. Why I feel this way about the king is because he sent Santiago on his journey to find his personal legend. Why I feel the crystal merchant has a strong significance in the book because when Santiago was about to loose hope and give up the merchant got him back on his feet and gives him farther knowledge about finding his personal legend.
I believe that Santiago’s accusations about fallowing your dreams are correct. Why I believe this is because I think you need to actually fallow though on for filling your personal legend instead of just dreaming about it. I also feel it is the only way to find true nirvana in your life.
I feel like changing the style of the book the alcomist would some what ruin the book. Why I feel this way is because the authors writing style is very sophisticated that draws you into his writing, and it if wasn’t written the way it was you wouldn’t be as drawn into the book.
One occasion when I have made a hard decision is when I moved back to Colorado from Minnesota. Why I feel it was a hard decision is because I left all my friends and family in Minnesota behind to start again in Colorado. I feel that my friends and family in Colorado influenced me to make this decision but in the end I made the decision for myself.
I feel that my personal legend is to bring joy to the life’s of others. Why I feel this way is because since I was a little kid I have always seen importance in helping others. I feel that the obstacles I will come across in trying to reach my personal legend are that things in life aren’t always easy and it may be a rocky road.
I would say that fallowing omens is a big theme in the alcomist. But I would also that that fallowing omens is a big theme in my life. A time that I have seen an omen and fallowed it is when I was sitting in the large room at Yampa and a deer walked right up to the side door and stared at us and I saw it as a omen to do good things so I fallowed it.

Rate your overall impression of the book: 8
I feel that the ending of the book will bring Santiago finding his personal legend. Why i feel this way is the hole book has consisted of him looking for it. I hope that he can find it because i think it would be a good ending and finnish it off well, and teach the reader a lesion as well.

If i was in charge of the Us budget there is many changes i would make that i feel would improve our system an extraordinary amount. The first topic i would focus on is domestic programs and foreign aid. Eliminating 15 billion dollars spent a year on ear marks because i think there unnecessary waste of money because 90% of the time they don't have anything to do with the bill there in in the first place. I would also cut 15 billion dollars a year by cutting pay of civilian Federal workers pay by 5% because its a very small amount and will most likely come back to them in tax breaks.
Next i would focus on cutting the military budget witch in my opinion in one of the most over funded services the us government provides. First i would reduce nuclear arsenal and space-based missile spending by 40 billion because the US Government spends 48% of the words nuclear spending per year witch is out right rediclace. Next i would reduce active military personnel by 200,000 in Europe and Asia because there is no reason for us to have our military in country's where allies with its out right disrespectful and would save us 50 billion. Finally i would cut the budget by 170billion dollars by speeding up the withdrawal of troops in Iraq and Afghanistan because quite honestly we've already figured out they don't have “weapons of mass destruction.
After that i would focus on cutting health care which i personally don't think needs to be cut all that much because it benefits everyone at some point in time but has room for improvement. The one thing i do believe should be cut from the health care system is the 560 billion spent a year on cap medicare growth at G.D.P. growth plus one percentage point among other things because this where help crack down on hospitals and doctors that are over charging for what they should be on there fees.
I also think it is important to focus on cutting social security in America because more and more people every day are finding ways to cheat the system and freeload off a program that is designed to help those who truly need it. First i would reduce growth rate of initial social security benefits the top 40 present of lifetime earns saving the government fifty five billion because theirs no reason there benefit rates need to be growing as fast as they do. I also think it would be very important to use alternate inflation measures because it would slow cost of living increases for social security users and cut eighty billion off government spending because it benefits everyone in the end.
Finally i would focus on adding to the budget by raising some taxs. First gaining the government 25 billion i would raise capital gains and dividends taxes by 5% on the high-income households because quite honestly i find it outrageous that they make so much yet they pay less taxes then there Secretaries. Next i would add i 5.4% surtax on incomes above one million per ear for the same reason stated above gaining the government twenty five billion a year. Also i would reduce individual and corporation tax's breaks while also cutting income and corporate tax rates, i feel this would make everything a lot more equal for all Americans no matter what your income status is wail saving the government one hundred seventy five billion dollars a year. Finally i would enforce a one hundred and five billion dollar tax on banks weighed by size and riskiness of holding because i feel that i would help them be more aware and careful about the risks they take in there spending limits and loans witch is without a doubt needed after the economic downfall.

Athena
Gabrielle Wescott-Shamis
With head over heart
Well in formed and smart,
Piercing eyes that match the sky,
and a great taste for disguise,
of emotions on that pretty face,
Her wisdom has no disgrace,
A powerful defender but also a potent peacemaker,
A wise risk-taker,
Rational reasoning rules her,
Not very emotional but never cruel,
Her shield being her tool,
Coming out of the forehead of her father Zeus,
The type of girl men would be intimidated to seduce,
her independence giving her no interest in men,
Speaks words most can’t even comprehend,
Logical by nature and never getting hotheaded,
So much beauty embedded,
Never playing the role of the victim
Making smart predictions,
And proving that beauty comes from the inside.
