Life Long Learning: Gabii Wescott
Sundance Film Festival: Movie Premiere: CRUDE: A Joe Berlinger Film.
About a year ago i went to sundance film festival “An independent film festival,” with my family. The festival was held in Park City Utah, the only year round ski town in America. The reason me made the decision to make to trip was because my dads best friends movie “crude” was premiering at the festival, and he wanted to be there to support him. His movie was about BP and the fact that they are drilling for oil in third world country's and contaminating everything that the native people there need to live.
I learned many things from going to see his movie. The biggest thing i learned that i didn't know before is how big of a problem drilling for oil is in pour country's, and the sad fact that it is killing many of the native people. The problem is that bp is drilling in these peoples water supplies witch is polluting it and making it unsafe then the native people go and bathe and drink the water and most of them die from it. But there is many small ways you can help like seeing crude or sending letters to the big oil company's like bp saying you will no longer buy there product if they continue to abuse there resource's in this way.
I thought it was a altogether great experience. Even though i didn't participate in making the actual movie, i did go out of my way to go to Utah to see it, and support the director. I would recommend crude for many reasons but the main ones being that, it was very well made, and it teaches you about making a difference.
